Department history

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

The history of the Department of English begins in 1994. The department included such scientists as R.S. Kratsev, R.V. Stele, V.G. Lobin, Zh.Tungatarov, N.Avazbayev, A.N.Yatsukhin, V.A.Redkin.

In the 2012-2013 academic year, the department was headed by Ph.D. Associate Professor Abramova G.I., since the 2013 academic year, the head of the department was appointed Ph.D., Associate Professor Smanova G.I.

For 2020-2021, the department has 2 PhD, 4 associate professors, 4 candidates of sciences, 2 senior teachers, 11 master teachers and 1 volunteer. The Department of English Language graduates teachers in the specialty 6B01703 - training of teachers of a Foreign language: two foreign languages and 6B02301 - Translation.

Future jobs of graduates in the specialty:

- In general educational institutions – general secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums;

- In research centers (junior researcher);

- In English language courses

- As a translator

The staff of the department provides an opportunity for students to comprehensively study a foreign language combining theory with practice. The teaching staff of the department took advanced training courses, exchanged experience with colleagues from near and far abroad in order to develop scientific training and creative work. For example, A.Abdukarimova (Erfurt, Germany), A.Tadjibayeva (Oslo, Norway), A.Dildabekova (England, Newcastle).

8 students studied at the International Baltic Academy (Riga, Latvia) in 2013-2014 academic years, 6 students in 2014-2015 and 6 students at the International Academy of Languages (Siegen, Germany) under the academic mobility program. In 2013, the master's teacher of the department L.S. Kanaeva completed a 3-month internship in the Netherlands under the Bolashak program.

Abdurashidova Aydin, Nadirbek Ayaulym from North Kazakhstan State University named after S. M. Kozybaeva in group 119-17, 4th course. Also Mutaltib Feruza from Aktobe State University named after K. Zhubanova is studying for academic mobility in the group 119-17, 4th course.

On external academic mobility in 2021, students of the specialty "6В01703 - foreign language: training teachers of two foreign languages" A. Arapova, S. Akhmetova, A. Abilakim, A. Bibatyr, group 1703-19, 3 course were invited under the program of academic mobility to one of the most prestigious universities in Turkey. They are going to study for one academic semester at Gazi University in Ankara. The rector of the University Gulzhan Sugirbayeva met with the students going to study abroad and wished them good luck.

In 2021 the university hosts a volunteer from the USA under the Fulbright program, teacher Oneil Darby.
