The educational and methodical work of the department is carried out on the basis of the annual plan and the plan of educational and methodical work of the department (protocol No. 2 of 1.09.2021).

During the first half of the 2021-2022 academic year, 2 teachers at the department improved their qualifications: A.M. Karabayeva, A.T. Saulembayev, A.D. Tazhekova.

A number of works have been carried out in the field of introduction of modern pedagogical technologies and new teaching methods and activation of cognitive activity of students. Teachers of the department used new pedagogical technologies during lectures and seminars. In particular, the method of problem-based learning, pedagogy of cooperation, technology of humanization, technology of developmental learning, technologies of level and differentiated learning, technology of program learning. The introduction of these pedagogical technologies during classes increases the interest and activity of students in the subject.

In the first half of the 2020-2021 academic year, 8 mutual classes of teachers are planned, which were completed in a timely manner. Of these, 5 lectures and 3 seminars. Mutual attendance was carried out according to the established schedule, attendance and comments on classes were filled in the mutual attendance log. His schedule was approved at a meeting of the department at the beginning of the year.

Considering that the use of innovative methods increases the cognitive level of students, forms their comprehensive, reasoned knowledge, teachers of the department in the 2020-2021 academic year begin to introduce innovative methods into the educational process.

The annual plan and the educational and methodological plan of the department for the 2020-2021 academic year discusses the quality and preparation of work programs of disciplines, syllabuses, the implementation and quality of the publication of methodological manuals, the provision of disciplines with teaching aids, the introduction of innovative approaches to the educational process, the quality of examination, test assignments, organization and conduct of field practice, etc.

In accordance with the plan of educational and methodological work of the Department of Geography, a scientific and methodological seminar "Research activities as a basis for improving the quality of education" was organized on October 21, 2020. The purpose of the seminar is to increase the effectiveness of education, modernize Kazakh education, update educational programs in higher educational institutions. Determination of the actual problem in the disciplines established by the curriculum of bachelors of education according to the educational program 6B01506 - training of a geography teacher", 6B01511 - training of a geography-history teacher", 6B01405 - training of a teacher of the basics of law and economics. The scientific and methodological seminar was attended by candidates of sciences and senior teachers of the department, students.

In accordance with the plan of educational and methodological work of the Department of Geography, a scientific and methodological seminar "Actual problems of teaching the course of sacred geography of the Turkestan region" was organized on December 7, 2020. The purpose of the seminar is to identify problematic learning issues. To train teachers of a new formation, it is necessary to know the basic principles of updated education, the nature and history of their region, sacred places, be able to use new innovative technologies in the methodology, consider topical issues of changing the educational mission depending on the needs of society, the level of planning of educational programs of universities, topical issues of the educational program, issues of improving the functional literacy of modern teachers. The scientific and methodological seminar was held at a high level, discussed at a meeting of the department and was recorded in the protocol.

The teaching staff of the department has prepared published textbooks, manuals and methodological guidelines on quality, in accordance with the requirements of the credit system of education. The prepared textbooks, manuals, etc. were reviewed and discussed at the methodological council of the department, recommendations were given for consideration and publication at the council of the scientific school. The faculty council reviewed the textbooks prepared for printing.

For the 1st half of the 2020-2021 academic year, according to the plan of educational and methodological work of the department, 3 electronic textbooks, 1 methodological manual, 1 collection of lectures are planned. Teaching aids prepared by teachers were discussed at the meeting of the department and attention was paid to their quality.

At the faculty level, in March 2020, a meeting was held with employers who are ready to cooperate with the university: to hire young personnel after training. The Department of Geography also took part in this event. During the meeting, there was a heated discussion of educational programs for the 2021-2022 academic year.
