Faculty history

 

In accordance with the resolution of the Central Committee of the Party on the training of specialists in Kazakhstan in 1937, higher educational institutions began to open in the capital of the Republic of Alma-Ata and some regional centers. In accordance with this resolution, Shymkent Teachers' University was opened on the basis of the resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the Kazakh SSR No. 203 dated March 19, 1937. 120 students were admitted to the 1st year of the faculty, first called the Historical and Philological faculty, in the 1937-38 academic year. Most of them were philologists - Kazakh language and literature, Russian language and literature. In connection with the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 7, 1954, the former two-year teachers' University was transformed into a pedagogical university with an elevated status.

On the basis of the order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education No. 881 dated July 12, 1965, the Faculty of History and Philology was renamed the Faculty of History and Philology. Thus began an independent history, a new stage of the Faculty of philology training. Being the Faculty of History and Philology, R. Barlybaev, Zh. Ospanova, A. Ibraev, K. Montaev worked as deans.

In 1965, an experienced, qualified specialist Rahim Barlybayev was elected the first dean of a separate philological faculty.

From 1972 to 1977, the dean of the faculty was Candidate of Philological Sciences, associate professor M. S. Bekturov. The material and technical base of the faculty has been strengthened.

In 1977-1987, the Faculty of Philology was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor A. Musakulov.

In 1987-1990, the dean of the faculty was Candidate of Philological Sciences, associate professor K. Syzdykov.

In 1990-1999, the faculty was headed by the Candidate of Philological Sciences, Professor O. Zhumashev.

From 1999 to 2002, the dean of the faculty was Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate Professor U. Tanabaev.

From 2002 to 2003, the faculty was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor S. Bekmyrza.

From 2003 to 2005, the faculty was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor S. U. Taukeev.

From 2005 to 2012, the academic year was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor T. Ainabekova.

From 2012 to 2014 academic year, the faculty team was headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences K. Saparbayeva.

Since the 2014-2015 academic year, the university has been renamed the Philological Scientific School in accordance with Order No. 4-91 of 29.08.2014. About making changes to the structure of the university.  The duties of the director of the scientific school were performed by the candidate of Philological Sciences E. B. Orazbayeva.

From 05.05.2015 in accordance with Order No. 4-32 of 05.05.2015. On amendments to the structure of the University, it was renamed the Faculty of Philology. 

Since 15.06.2015, Candidate of Philological Sciences Nurpeisov N.zh. worked as Dean of the Faculty of Philology. 

In 2017-2020, the dean of the faculty was Candidate of Philological Sciences A. A. Zhapparkulova.

From 01.04. to 27.07.2020, Candidate of Philological Sciences A. Baigutova carried out systematic work as dean.

In 2020-2021, on a competitive basis, he worked as dean of the faculty, Candidate of Philological Sciences, associate professor N. zh. Nurpeisov.

Since September 2021 , Candidate of Philological Sciences E. B. Orazbayeva has been appointed Dean of the Faculty .

The faculty prepares bachelors of education, masters and doctoral students in 8 educational programs:

1. 6b01701-training of a teacher of the Kazakh language and literature;

2. 6b01702-training of a teacher of Russian language and literature;

3. 6b01703-English and German language teacher training;

4. 6b01704-teacher training of Kazakh language and literature in schools with non-Kazakh language of instruction;

5. 6b01705-training of a teacher of Russian language and literature in schools with a non-Russian language of instruction;

6. 6b02302-Philology;

7. 6b02301-Translation business;

8. 6b01706-training of teachers of Uzbek language and literature

1. 7m01701-training of a teacher of the Kazakh language and literature

5. 7m01703-foreign language: two foreign languages    

At the Faculty of Philology there are 3 departments that graduate specialties, 1 service department:

1) department of "Kazakh language and literature";

2) department of "Russian language and literature";

3) department of "English language";

4) department of "foreign languages"

Currently, the total number of teaching staff at the faculty is 76, including doctors and professors of sciences - 2, PhD doctors - 3, candidates of sciences and associate professors - 34, senior teachers, masters of sciences and teachers - 37.

Scientific and personnel potential of the faculty 50,84%

The research work of faculty teachers is carried out in the following areas:

- research on scientific and methodological support of the educational process (the formation of textbooks, educational and teaching aids, etc.);

- supervising the scientific work of students;

- Development of scientific relations of faculty teachers with the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, higher educational institutions of the Republic, as well as universities of far and near abroad;

- scientific and organizational work on holding conferences at the scientific school and participation of teachers in conferences of various levels outside the university;

The faculty cooperates with higher educational institutions, research centers of the near and far abroad. Cooperates with universities of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Turkey, Spain, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, Belarus, the University of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the University of Foreign Languages of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, the State University of the Higher School of Economics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, South Ural State University and research centers:

a) improvement of qualifications

b) conducting scientific research;

b) publication of the results of scientific research;

 c) conducting scientific conferences, etc.
