The history of the Department of Psychology

     The Department of Psychology is a service department that prepares the educational program "6B01101 – Pedagogy and Psychology" at the university and conducts the disciplines "Psychology", "Age Psychology". The scientific potential of the department is 50 percent.

     The Department of Psychology as an independent structure was opened as part of the Shymkent Pedagogical Institute in 1937.

     In 1971-1975, the Department of Psychology was headed by a well-known Russian researcher, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate Professor Nogaibai Aigabylov. During his years at the Institute, he was the author of more than 100 scientific articles and several monographs. N.Aigabylov became the owner of the title of the best education worker of the Kazakh SSR, several medals.

     In 1976-1980, the Department of Psychology was headed by a well-known Russian researcher, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor Kubygul Bozaevich Zharylbayev. The main works of the scientist: "General psychology", "Age and educational psychology", "Ethnopsychology", etc. In 1980, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Kubygul Zharykbayev moved to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as head of the Department of Psychology.

     In 1980-1986, Nogaibai Aigabylov, a graduate of the Leningrad School of Psychology, returned to the position of head of the Department of Psychology.

     In 1986-1994, the Department of Psychology was headed by Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Khamrakulov Toktamysh Khamrakulovich. Over the years, T.Khamrakulov has published 15 scientific articles and teaching aids in special editions.

    In 2008-2015, the Department of Psychology was headed by K.E.Koishiev, a graduate of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Psychology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. K.E.Koishiev was awarded the Ulagatty Ustaz medal for his contribution to the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2015).

      In 2016-2018, the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology was headed by a candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor, holder of badges "S.Altynsarin" for merits in the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Ulagatty ustaz" for special merits in the field of education Sh.Zh.Arzymbetova.

     On September 3, 2018, by the decision of the Academic Council of the University, the Department of Psychology was reorganized. From this period until the current 2023, he graduated from qualification courses at the Australian Deakin University, the University of Melbourne, the York Experimental Scientific University, as well as the author of more than 100 scientific and methodological works, Ph.D. A.Z.Alipbek held the position of head of the department. 

    Since December 20, 2023, the candidate of pedagogical Sciences, senior lecturer, author of more than 70 scientific papers Buletova Lyazzat Alpysbayevna has been appointed head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the U. Zhanibekov South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University.

    The teachers who teach classes at the department have higher academic degrees and qualified, experienced specialists who have worked for several years in leading educational institutions: graduate of the Faculty of Psychology of Lomonosov Moscow State University, PhD Koishiev K.E., Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, who made a significant contribution to the development of domestic pedagogical sciences, professors Smanov I.S., Orazymbetova K.S., Sydykov M.E., senior teachers Abdramanova N.S., Aitzhanova G.T. and masters of Pedagogy and Sciences Usypbekova A.S., Umbetalieva A.M., Seidaeva A.N., Dosanova M.M., Ashen B.M., Parimbai G.G., Isabekova A.O., Kasimbekova B.A. Currently, the department employs 1 Doctor of Sciences, Professor, 8 candidates of Sciences, 1 PhD, 4 senior teachers, 8 teachers.

     Leading scientists and teachers teach at all faculties of SKSPU: Koishiev K.E., Orazymbetova K. Sh., Aitzhanova G.T., Sydykov M.E., who make a significant contribution to science and education of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the disciplines of "Psychology".

     The teachers of the Department of Psychology are scientists known in the republic as the authors of textbooks and teaching aids. Scientific and methodological work at the department begins with the definition of the goals and objectives of educational work in each academic year and continues with scientific and organizational, educational work, implementation, analysis and examination of the work done. The staff of the department is always in a creative search to try, study advanced technologies and rationally introduce them into the educational process, qualitatively implement the Messages of the Head of State, educational programs. In order to improve their skills, the teaching staff of the Department of Psychology maintains close ties with foreign and domestic universities. In particular, PhD, Professor I.Smanov in Germany and Italy; PhD, senior lecturer K.Koishiev at the Center for Psychological Technology and Innovation of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; senior lecturer, member of the International Psychological Academy of Sciences G.Aitzhanova was named "The Best Psychologist - 2021", advanced training in "Inclusive Education" in Israel, Belarus; senior lecturer N.Abdramanova completed advanced training at Moscow State Pedagogical University; teachers A.Umbetalieva (Portugal) at the Technical University, A.Usypbekova at universities in Kyrgyzstan.

     Currently, the search for new ways of international cooperation with leading universities of the near and far abroad and the development of academic mobility of students and teachers is actively underway. According to academic mobility in the 2015-2016 academic year, students of our specialty: Sarbayeva Irada Sadridinovna, Blinova Daria Vladimirovna, Akhmedova Gozalika Elmuratovna, Omarova Bakhytzhan Shakhmuratovna studied for 1 semester at the Varna Free University of Bulgaria (order No.3-125, August 14, 2015), in the 2018-2019 academic year, 2nd year students of the specialty "Pedagogy and Psychology": Rahim Madina Nurdillaevna, Seitkhankyzy Clara studied in the 1st semester at KazNPU named after Abaya (Order No. 2/3, January 10, 2018).

     Also, since September of the current 2022 academic year, on the initiative of the teacher of the department, G.T. Aitzhanova, a "Psychological Support Center" was opened under the vice-rector of the South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical University "For Social Work and Education". In order to create socio-psychological conditions for the organization of the educational process of the university, to ensure the psychological protection of students, teachers, staff, support and strengthen their mental health, the psychological support center is currently conducting comprehensive, productive work in accordance with these directions.

     Textbooks, manuals, monographs of professors-teachers of the department are published annually systematically, systematically. Conducts lectures and psychological events with students with reasonable use of innovative learning technologies. Participates in the annual republican subject Olympiads, scientific projects, and takes prizes. As a result of such systematic work, the educational program 6B01101–Pedagogy and Psychology shows high performance in the ratings of the NAAR, Atameken. For example, over the past 3 years, according to the NAAR rating, the educational program 6B01101 – Pedagogy and Psychology has risen from 9th to 2nd place.

     The indicator of the Atameken rating for the 2020 academic year, the educational program "6B01101–Pedagogy and Psychology" rose to 8th place out of 43 universities in the country.
