Students from all faculties take an active part in debates. The participants give examples, facts, argue, explain and generalize in English on a given topic. Afterwards, the winners of the debates are determined and certificates are awarded. The basis of the debate is fluency of speech, exchange of opinions on the proposed thesis. Participants provide convincing arguments in support of their ideas, confirm facts, explain, summarize. Debates teach students the culture of public speaking, the ability to listen and hear others, to value their own abilities and also to look for evidence that can serve as a worthy proof of their views. Participants also learn to follow clear rules of procedure, developing internal order and self-control in the preparation and conduct of debates.
