Biography

Sugirbayeva Gulzhan Dauletbekovna was born on November 21, 1964 in the city of Lenger, South Kazakhstan Region, in the family of a civil servant. She graduated with honors from high school V. Komarova in Lenger (1982) and the Department of History and Pedagogy of the Shymkent State Pedagogical Institute (1987).

In 1987-1994 works as the head of the pioneer organization of secondary school No. 41 and the history teacher of secondary school No. 29 of Shymkent, in 1994-1995. - Lecturer, Department of General History, Shymkent Pedagogical Institute.

In 1995 she entered the graduate school of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after  Ch. Valikhanova of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2000 she defended her candidate thesis on "The Uzbek population of Kazakhstan in the 20-30s of the twentieth century: problems of history and culture."

In 2000-2010 she worked as a teacher, senior lecturer, head of the Department of World History of the Shymkent Institute of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after A. Yasawi.

In 2010–2011 - Associate Professor at the Department of History of Kazakhstan in Academic Innovation University, in 2012–2013 - Associate Professor at the Department of Archeology and Ethnology of Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyova.

In 2013–2016, she worked as an assistant professor, head of the Department of World History and Kazakhstan at the South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical Institute and in 2016–2020, she was the head of research programs expertise Departments, management and monitoring.    

 In 2005, together with Russian scientists, published textbooks in Russian and Kazakh for students of secondary schools "Modern History" and "World of the Twentieth Century."

Sugirbayeva G.D. passed scientific internships and training of higher education qualifications in Russia, China, and Turkey. She is the author of 4 textbooks, 2 teaching aids, more than 50 articles, 6 of them published in foreign journals with an impact factor.

Sugirbayeva G.D. received rewards of “The best teacher of the university” (2010). She was awarded with the jubilee medal "550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate", letters of thanks from the governor of the South Kazakhstan region (2017) and the South Kazakhstan regional authority (2018).
